Group trip planning iOS app
How Uptech helped RSVP build a travel app for group trip planning without endless group chats.
RSVP is a trip-planning app for friends and family. The app lets groups of travelers organize the early stage of their next trip, including dates, destinations, trip discussions, and shared updates between friends or family members. All of this usually takes a long time to discuss and agree on within a group. So the main idea of the future RSVP was to provide an all-in-one place for travelers to make trip arrangements, discuss, and comment on them.
Started in 2022, the project already had several designs, and the client expected support with iOS development. Yet, after the first review, our team noticed a few weak spots in the product structure and user flows. Some parts looked good visually, though the actual experience felt confusing once several people joined the same trip.
As work on the MVP started, the scope gradually changed. Uptech rebuilt some UX parts, redesigned key screens, and helped shape the product logic together with the client. In around six months, the team released the first iOS version of RSVP with more features than originally planned.

The early product version worked fine in simple scenarios, though things became harder once several people joined the same trip. Conversations, updates, and plans started to overlap, which made the experience feel cluttered and harder to follow during actual use.
Solution
Before active development, the Uptech team reviewed the existing flows and pointed out areas that could confuse users later. Several parts of the app were rebuilt from scratch, including navigation, trip discussions, and the overall structure around shared planning.
The client wanted to launch the first iOS version within a short timeframe. At the same time, the product scope kept expanding during the project, since new ideas and UX improvements appeared along the way. The team had little room for delays.
Solution
The project roadmap helped the team keep priorities under control from the start. Features were split into clear stages, and the development process stayed focused on the parts required for the MVP release instead of trying to polish everything at once.
The client already had several prepared screens before the project started. Some of them looked visually polished, though certain flows felt inconsistent once they were connected into a full product experience, especially around trip coordination between users.
Solution
Uptech redesigned key parts of the app during development instead of postponing UX fixes for later releases. The updated interface made the product feel more cohesive and easier to use, while still fitting the original timeline and budget expectations.
Users can create trips, invite other participants, manage updates, and keep all planning details inside one shared space. The app supports different roles for hosts and guests, which helps groups coordinate decisions without constant confusion around responsibilities or trip changes.

Each trip includes its own discussion space where participants can comment on plans, share updates, and reply to other members. Conversations stay connected to the actual trip instead of disappearing somewhere inside large group chats or separate messaging apps.

Users can suggest activities, add dates and time options, discuss plans with the group, and organize ideas for the trip schedule. This made it easier for travelers to coordinate plans together before the trip actually started.

The app sends notifications about new trip activity, updates, and discussions so users do not miss important changes. This helped groups stay in sync during the planning process without the need to constantly check the app manually.

RSVP includes a shared feed with the latest trip activity, updates, and participant actions. Group members can quickly catch up on changes, review discussions, and see what happened recently without opening multiple separate screens.
